4 Months Old

This is the happiest baby you have ever met!!!! When he smiles he uses his whole body, almost like he can't contain it..... it's fantastic!

Barbie Cake

This was a fun little project I did for an adorable little girl in Quinn's Kindergarten class that was turning 6. I had never done a Barbie Cake before, but after hearing a friends nightmare experience with buttercream in a warm room sliding off the slippery Barbie torso, and creating an embarrassingly "R" rated candle blow out, I decided fondant would be best. Audrey and I had a blast trying out new fondant techniques...... the ruffling, draping and those cute "ribbon roses". Audrey watched a couple of YouTube tutorials (see below) and had it down! She did all the roses you see on the cake. I love that Audrey is getting older and is really turning out to be a girl after my own heart. We have so much fun together weather it's crafting, baking, shopping, reading, party planning or doing the dishes while we belt out some Taylor Swift or Barbra Streisand. (Oh yes Dad don't worry.... we're passing Babs on to a whole new generation!) I cherish all of our moments, it amazes me how easy they come. Is it naive to hope that our relationship stays this way through her teenage years???

Merry Christmas

Townes Wylder McNames
Happily received on December 10th 2011, weighing in at 11 lbs. 6 ounces. (Go big or go home, right!)
There aren't words to describe the new place this little boy has found in my heart. So I won't try, but this was a Christmas Season full of meaning and framed with blessed peace and quiet. I am simply....... thankful.

"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."

Halloween 2011...still playing blog catch-up

What do you get if you ask your kids what THEY want to be for Halloween? Well in our family you get an "Afro Man", Queen Elizabeth, a Jedi in training, and a Woodland fairy. Wow that's quite the eclectic group!

A Soccer season to remember!

Joey's 5th Season! Quinn's 1st! Those were some busy Saturdays for a pregnant Mama.

Stella was the definitive spectator!

These are some pretty animated half-time shots of the best coach in the league! Intense huh?
Vikings forever!!!

A few recent projects.....

A Chocolate Ganache Birthday Cake with Peanut Butter filling.

Baby Boy "Camping" Shower Cake.

Happy 40th Birthday Cake.

There were 3 layers to this cake; Hazelnut, Vanilla/ Raspberry, and Devil's Food.

This bride just wanted a little 6" for her and her husband to cut at the reception, and then a variaty of cupcakes to serve to all the guests.

This cake was for the Brown/ Bowley wedding along with the dessert bar pics below.

6th Grade, 4th Grade & Kindergarten
